Well, we just played our first gig in Edinburgh. Like the Dundee gig, it ended up being just ourselves on the bill after the local band pulled out one hour after the last minute. It does means we can honestly say we've headlined an Edinburgh gig, the downside was that there were only about 10 people in the crowd, even though we went into a few hostels to ask them to send people our way, and Fraser very nearly took his guitar to the streets to rouse support.
Still, a few were new faces, and we hope the experience didn't put them off from seeing us again. As a show, it went well. Bannerman's seems like it would be a great venue to play packed, but was bit cavernous with a small, but enthusiastic, crowd. We played through our set with a few alterations to the running order (variety is, after all, the spice of life) and no glaring errors. Our thanks to those who came out, to the sound guy (whose name I didn't catch) and to Kev (who lent us a bass).
We've got a few new songs that we'll be working on at practices and hope to introduce them into the set soon, they're sounding pretty good, just need a bit of work and we'll be there. Our next gig is the House of Rock showcase at the Captain's Rest in Glasgow, promises to be a cracker, and we promise it won't just be us! 1st June, 8pm, tickets £4 on the door.
In a shameless plug, Mike's brother's band are back and gigging, although so far only a Barcalona gig confirmed, and we hope to get them up here for a show at some point if all works out. In the meantime, check them out at Cato's myspace page.
