he sign that welcomes you to the city is 'Dundee-City of Discovery' and we 'discovered' something... always check what the venue supplies. On Monday, we were told that the Duke's Corner doesn't supply any backline except PA, so had to arrange for three amps and a drum kit to travel from Glasgow to Dundee, with half the band already traveled... fun times! Lesson learnt though, the first thing we'll be asking every future venue is if they supply backline.
The gig was great, we were the only band performing, if we had time (and, indeed, footage) we could have made a wee video to play before the show and made a Down style 'Evening with Feeding Egon' event of the whole thing. We played a great set of 10 songs, including one jam and two instrumentals that are still in their infancy. They were all well received by the audience.
It was a bit of a homecoming for half the band, being from across the river. The gig started with a dedication to "getting the fuck outta Tayport" and ended with a song about Broughty Ferry, so we were very much 'Live and Local!'
A big thank you to the Duke's Corner for putting us on, to everyone that came and to Harry James Perston for transporting the amps.
Our next gig is in Edinburgh at Bannerman's in the Cowgate, £4 on the door.
After that, June 1st sees us play with good friends Contact Lost at the Captain's Rest in Glasgow. Promises to be a cracker! A few other things in the pipeline too, we'll keep you updated.
Egon
